From the Desk of our 3rd Grade Catechists / English Program

Jordan Donelson & Dotti Gottardo

This Religious Education school year seems to be flying by and the 3rd graders are doing a great job with the new way of learning about their faith through online lessons. The students complete weekly lessons on a website called Mycatholicfaithdelivered. The lessons always begin with a prayer and sometimes a song. After the prayer the children listen to or read about the topic of the week, which has included learning about our Catholic beliefs, important people and events in the bible, as well as learning about the sacraments and 10 Commandments. After hearing about the topic, the children review the vocabulary words associated with the topic, and play a game using the information they just learned. The lesson ends with an assessment to see how well they understood the topic and a final prayer. Any questions they may have about these lessons can be asked at our weekly Google meeting or by emailing us at anytime. We meet with the children every Wednesday to discuss the lesson that they learned that week and may discuss other topics associated with the lesson. We may talk about a Saint whose feast day was that week or explain more about a sacrament or a Holy Day of Obligation. We also review prayers the children have learned in 1st and 2nd grade as well as practice the prayer they need to memorize this year. Seeing and listening to the children every week is the best part of the program for us.

We look forward to seeing how the children progress during the rest of the year and thank the parents for all their support.

Jordan Donelson & Dotti Gottardo – 3rd Grade Catechists

Today is a very special feast day to us as it celebrates the patron saints of our wonderful parish…

Father,

You brought the light of the gospel to the Slavic nations

through Saint Cyril and his brother Saint Methodius.

Open our hearts to understand your teaching

and help us to become one in faith and praise.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
